Describe your transcriptionist training program:

To maintain consistent quality on all transcripts, training is of the utmost importance. Our transcriptionists train in our on-site training lab that offers computerized, hands-on training, testing, and skills evaluations. Due to the many variations in formatting needed for each client, we have developed a comprehensive 150-page procedures manual that is adhered to by our staff. This high level of training gives our clients the confidence to know their documents are being accurately transcribed.

We also believe in ongoing training. Each employee and transcriptionist is required to attend ongoing training sessions throughout the year. Training for our transcriptionists begins during the recruitment process where we pre-screen applicants for basic skills. We then meet with each of them for a group testing session to determine typing speed, homonym and grammar skills and spelling ability. Upon successfully passing our testing process, each transcriptionist is required to attend a 6-day training class. Twenty-two (22) hours of in-class instruction in our on-site training lab has been specifically designed to teach verbatim style transcription, formatting, client policies and procedures and security requirements. Our goal is for each person to produce the same quality and type of transcript, thus ensuring consistent and ongoing product quality for our customers. Additionally, there are two hours of one-on-one in-person dual listening training to review completed transcripts and 10 hours of over the phone reviews on transcripts done during the first two weeks after in-class training. New transcriptionists also attend ongoing training sessions designed to ensure accuracy and quality in their transcripts.
